photo hunters::dirty

back in november of 2004, the philippines experienced a very strong typhoon named winnie, and manila was directly hit. these pictures were taken during the eve of my birthday and lasted up to the wee hours of the next day... at around 11 pm our neighbor rang our doorbell frantically. he was warning us that water was rising fast! (we lived near the marikina river)

we watched helplessly as the water started pouring in our garage. at its peak, the murky water chest-deep along our street. our garage and house was elevated which was a blessing since the water did not reach the house. sadly, it did "drown" our car though.
here's a pic of our neighbor's house

our drowning car... hubby was able to salvage it's computer box, but sadly it didn't run the same way again since then... the carpets were completely ruined too.
the morning after... the water subsided already leaving us with a muddy mess and a smelly car!

Wow, those are great photographs of a terrible event. It must have been very upsetting and I'm sure the clean up took a long time. I'm glad you and your family weren't hurt.

Hi Karen, thanks for visiting and the comment on my Friday Feast. France would be a great place too. There are many places I would love to visit. I enjoy the photo hunter's too, but don't participate. I have a digital camera, but am terrible about remembering to take pictures. *smiles*

Hi Karen. I'm sorry to know you experienced that kind of flooding. I'm sorry about the things that were damaged. I'm glad you're all safe.

What a helpless feeling you must have felt, watching it rise and take over everything. Great photos of such a disasterous situation. Have a good week.

What a way to spend birthday but at least the house and it's contents were safe. Definitely not a nice feeling sitting and watching the water rise and not being able to do anything about it. Here's my take for dirty
